The Merinews WE Program, as the name suggests is aimed to strengthen the bond between the Citizen Journalists (CJs) and to make it a mutually rewarding experience for all the stakeholders in the value chain of news generation at Merinews.

This program is open for all legal residents of India, who register for the WE Program and are found eligible by the screening team. This program shall be opened for Merinews CJs across the world in near future.

If you are a writer or a photo journalist, you can earn revenue by submitting content in the form of articles and pictures. The revenue generated by the advertisements placed on the content pages is shared with contributors by Merinews.

The revenue earned is calculated, based on the page views on the content pages. All the articles and pictures submitted by the contributors have advertisements, which generate revenue based on the visits or page views on that particular page. According to the page views and the corresponding revenue from a citizen journalist's contribution, the revenue is shared. The amount of revenue generated varies as it is based on the advertisers and depends on the quality and type of content and current news trends.

The Merinews WE program is unique in the sense that, every revenue sharing site shares revenue based on an imaginary index on a monthly basis where the contributor is clueless on the actual revenue earned. However, at Merinews a real time and transparent revenue sharing plan has been developed, which helps the contributor to see the exact revenue generated from any contribution. This also gives an idea about the kind of content that generates more revenue and helps a contributor to earn more. The page views are directly proportional to the revenue generated by the ads on a page. At the end of every month revenue generated is calculated and shared.

Maximizing revenue earnings
The revenue report on a contributor's MyAccount clearly shows the revenue generated from each contribution. This is an indicator to understand what type of content is more sought after by visitors. Also, since most of the advertisements displayed are contextual (meaning Ads served based on the type of content) it will give a clear idea of what type of content earns more and accordingly the contributions can be organised.

Content performance Reports
Once a contributor logs into his/her account, he will will land on the Mypage and find MyAccount section on it. Under the MyAccount you have a revenue report which is updated on a monthly basis. It will show data which is displayed title wise with the respective pageviews and estimated revenue earnings. Contributors can use the calendar to find out the revenue earned from these pages during a specific time period.

Receiving Payments
The payments would be processed through cheque or through PayPal payment.

The WE program is currently open to Indian citizens and soon would be opened to Citizen Journalists across the globe. The participation in this program is subject to approval by the Merinews screening team.
