10th Annual Inter School & Inter Collegiate Competitions
The students participated enthusiastically, especially in debate, while the beautiful posters brought out the creativity in them. The topics for competitions were: Dangers and Benefits of Nuclear energy, Plight of Fishermen of India and Pak, Demilitarizing Siachen Glacier, and Reduction of Defense Budget, etc.
OVER 500 students from 23 Schools and 12 Colleges competed in Quiz, Elocution, Poster Painting, Essay Writing and one-act Play Competitions on themes of ‘Beyond War and Violence’ organized today under the auspices of ‘Sambandh – 2012’- 10th Annual Inter School & Inter Collegiate Competitions by Youth TRAC-COVA in association with ICAN, CKGPC, Coalition for Nuclear Disarmament and Peace (CNDP) and Center for Peoples’ Foreign Policy in South Asia at Gandhi Darshan Hall, Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, Hyderabad.
These competitions are held every year on 6th August in commemoration of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki Nuclear Holocaust - so as to encourage among the youth the Values of Peace and Harmony. Mr. Saudagar Anwar, IAS, Vice Chairman, A.P. Administrative Tribunal, who was the Chief Guest, said that such programs help to increase social awareness, thus making children better citizens of tomorrow. Dr. Mazher Hussain, Executive Director, COVA, presided, while Ms. Rajya Lakshmi, Indian Children Action Network, Adv. Ms.NafeesaIsmail, Mr. Madhusudhan, OSD, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan were the guest of honours for the inaugural ceremony.
