11 blasts in 15 minutes rip Assam, 26 killed
26 people were killed and several others injured, when 11 blasts ripped the north Eastern state of Assam. Government has confirmed 10 blasts, but unconfirmed reports said that blasts could number 18.
MANGLED CARS, burnt flesh and blood trips are all over the blasts sites on Thursday morning as eleven blasts took place within fifteen minutes in the Northeastern state of Assam. The blasts took place in crowded markets all across the state.

Although ten blasts have been confirmed by the government, but unconfirmed reports said that the number of explosions could touch eighteen.

On Thursday morning, the blasts, which took within a space of 15 minutes caused mayhem; and at least 30 people are feared killed and several critically injured. The blasts ripped apart Guwahati, Barpeta, Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar. A grenade is said to be used to cause an explosion in Kokrajhar, according to police officials.

Charred bodies and injured victims were lying on the roads as explosions feared to be powered by RDX ripped Pan Bazar, Fancy Bazar and Ganesh Guddi in Guwahati city. Maximum loss of life is being feared in these areas as they were crowded by shoppers and office goers. There were unconfirmed reports of one or more blast in Guwahati taking the total to four explosions.

Police officials said that huge amount of explosives like RDX or other plastic explosives like C45 have been used as fire erupted immediately after the blasts. Timers were also used to execute the blasts, which were timed to perfection and took place within 15 minutes.

Three blasts have been reported in Kokrajhar, two in Bongaigaon and one in Barpeta even as people have been asked to stay indoors as a preventive measure. Police and security forces have launched a search operation to find out if more explosives have been planted.

Meanwhile, Assam government has declared high alert and paramilitary forces have been called out to control the volatile situation. Meanwhile, police has said that motor bikes were used to execute the blasts and they have initiated investigations.

A team of forensic experts have been rushed to the site of the blasts to gather evidence, which could prove crucial to know, who executed the blasts and the material used, officials said.

Union Minister Shakil Ahmed confirmed 10 blasts in the state and said that government has taken the matter seriously. He however refused to say who could be behind the reports, saying that full reports have yet to come.

The minister hinted that there were communal riots in Assam few days back and several people were killed and these attacks could be inter-linked. He said politics of hate was reason behind such attacks.
