Technology giant Apple Inc on Thursday stated that it has received 425000 requests for downloading its applications for iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad. The products are used by over 200 million users worldwide.
THE WORLD’s largest company in terms of liquidity just got a bit richer. On Thursday, Apple Inc stated that the company has received 15 billion applications through its App Store for the 200 million iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad users across the globe.
The California-based technological giant further stated that its flagship App Store features more than 425,000 applications for the 200 million odd users. It further mentioned that over 100,000 features have been developed for the iPad itself.
In a statement issued by the company, senior vice president Philip Schiller said that in just three years, the revolutionary App Store has grown to become the most exciting and successful software marketplace the world has ever seen.
Incidentally, Apple Inc, which has been embroiled with online retail giant Amazon.com over the name App Store has already paid more than $2.5 billion to its application developers so far, till date. The App Store by Apple was started in 2008.
However, a court case slammed Apple’s request that asked for Amazon to use the same words by saying that the evidence does show that Apple has spent a great deal of money on advertising and publicity, and has sold/provided/furnished a large number of apps from its App Store.
