19-year-old impersonator who posed as AIIMS doctor for months arrested
For five months, Adnan Khurram had access to the country's premier medical institute, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Using his fake identity, he made friends among many other medical students only to be busted in the end.

He not only visited the campus but also took part in various events organised by the doctors' fraternity of AIIMS. What is even more shocking is that all the accused required to gain access to the campus was a diary that is issued to the doctors.

Although the motive behind Khurram's actions is not clear, initially he had claimed that he did it to hasten his sister's treatment who is suffering from cancer. But later, he has reported to have said that he used to do so because he liked the company of doctors and wanted to be a doctor. To assert his identity, he had even uploaded pictures on his social media accounts wearing a doctor's coat and a stethoscope around his neck.

But all his claims fell flat after the doctors found him participating in a marathon organised by the doctors on Saturday. When confronted, he could not produce any proof of identity and the doctors called the police and handed him over to the police.

The case has brought to light the loop holes in the security apparatus at the country's premier medical institute. A case has been lodged against him and he has been booked under charges of impersonation.
