IN AN encounter of a lifetime story, a girl from Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, Rukhsana Kausar took up a fight against six terrorists who barged into her home, asking her parents to hand her over. According to her, she snatched the AK 47 from one of them by pushing him on the wall, shot at one of the terrorists, butted the other with her gun, while the others ran off.
"I pushed a terrorist into the wall. I hit him with the butt of the gun and then fired several times," says Rukhsana.
The family had refused to hand her over, which made the terrorists who where from Lashkar-e-Taiba, and had to face beatings as her brother attacked one with an axe and Rukhsana got into action too.
The fact that the defence committee had helped her and others of the village to handle the weapons helped her.
"The police was informed when everything was over. These people handed us the weapons and informed us about the encounter," says Shabbir Choudhary, SP, Rajouri.
Rukhsana'a family now have a valid fear that the terrorists will seek vengence and attack them, and thus have asked the military for protection and help.
