DELIGHT FOR the sour eyes (fanatic auto lovers of course!) the 2010 Michigan International Auto Show is rolling out in Grand Rapids, Michigan this week. The annual event, 12thone this year will unveil over 300 brands of stunning models.
On display are concept cars and preproduction models of Chevrolet, Mercedes Benz, Toyota (yes, brave attempt really by the Japanese car maker!) and others.
Also on display are Gilmore Car Museum classics inviting visitors to look back at cars from the past. The Michigan Secretary of State's also plans to have a display of 100 years of Michigan license plates. The most exciting part of the show is set to be nine foot car—the smallest green car sold in the US — called smart fortwo.
The green car built by Mercedes Benz will be on display at DeVos Place and will also be available for test drives. This eco vehicle is green certified by the EPA due to its low emission/pollutant score and is claimed to be 100 percent recyclable. The car is not a hybrid although it achieves 41 m.p.g on the highway, reaching a top speed of 90 m.p.h.Almost 40,000 smart fortwos are registered in the US.
The show is taking place at through Sunday at DeVos Place and is presented by the Grand Rapids New Car Dealers Association. The tickets are $10 for adults and $4 for children between the ages of 6-14. Kids under five are free.
