26/11: A year later?
November 26, 2008, one of the black days in the history of India. The terrorist attack in Mumbai left many sad memories in the heart of every Indian. Many lost their loved ones on 26/11 terrorist attack. Mumbaikars are still waiting for justice.
MUMBAI CAN’T forget the black day of 26/11 that occurred last year. We all know that we have been through a peaceful year after the nightmare that each and every person belonging to Mumbai witnessed on November 26, 2008.

It was a normal day as usual for Mumbaikars where everyone after the hectic schedule from office was going towards their home. Some people were busy in shopping as New Year was around. Some went to receive/drop their relatives or parents to station. Every individual was busy in some or the other thing when suddenly there was an unbelievable attack that shook Mumbai and the entire nation. It was like as if destruction of Mumbai was near. As everyone knows, Mumbai never sleeps; it keeps on running. On that particular moment however, it was as if someone had stopped the clock for Mumbai. People started panicking and there was fear in everyone’s face as they were in a hurry to reach home to be with their loved ones.

It was a day when terrorists reached India through sea route with the intention of attacking the VIP places in Mumbai. According to investigations, the attackers travelled by sea from Karachi, Pakistan across the Arabian Sea, hijacked the Indian fishing trawler 'Kuber', killing the crew and then entered Mumbai on a rubber dinghy. They targeted busy places, hotels and hospitals in Mumbai like Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Oberoi, Trident, Taj Mahal Palace and Tower, Leopold Café, Cama Hospital and the Orthodox Jewish-owned Nariman House.

Hope everyone remembers what happened on November 26, 27, 28 and 29, 2008. I would not like to narrate the whole nightmare that took place and took away the peace and harmony of all Mumbaikars, but would definitely like you to remember the contribution by the army people, police officers, encounter specialists, fire fighters and many others, without whom it would had not been possible for us to fight with the terrorists and win against them. Do we ever remember them now? Do we know the valuable contribution that they provide us so that we can lead a peaceful and happy life? We are so much busy in our daily lives that if you ask someone what happened on 26/11, he may try to recollect what was so special about that day. It is not his fault, it is due to the busy life that we lead here. We don’t think that we are safe and happy due to the people who have taken the responsibility to keep us safe.
By their help we were able to gun down all the terrorists and were able to catch one alive.

But what is the current status? We all know who has done it and what was the intention behind it. Even the single terrorist who was caught alive has given enough details but yet we are helpless. What is the reason behind it? What is the Indian government waiting for? Are they waiting for some miracle to happen so that they can close the case? It seems that the contribution of our officers and people all went in vain. What is the need to give our lives and fight for the nation if there is no judgment? Is our government helpless to close the case?

The government should not delay more. They should think of the people who have lost their beloved ones in it. They are waiting for the judgment. Years passed away and the cases keep on running- this is the specialty of India. If we punish the culprits behind the incidents and close the case, then there shouldn’t be any other attack or hijack wherein they demand for the release of the captured terrorists and we have to release them. I hope you all remember the case of Khandhar where we had to release the head of the terrorist for releasing the hijacked people stuck in the flight. Why do we need to bring such a situation again?

In few days it will be a year since the tragedy occurred. The people who lost their beloved ones have tried and started living without them, but the person responsible for their loss is still not punished.

Mumbai asks for justice…
