DAVID COLEMAN Headley, the LeT operative arrested for his hand in the Mumbai terror strikes is most likely to plead guilty before a Court in United States. Headley was arrested five months back by FBI.
An American of Pakistani origin, Headley's lawyer John Theis said that he will plead guilty on March 18. He however refused to reveal whether Headley would plead guilty to all allegations leveled against him. Headley is accused of being a major player in the Mumbai terror attacks conspiracy and also setting up a plan to attack the Danish newspaper, which had published a cartoon of Prophet Mohammad. If he is convicted, then Headley faces the prospects of a life imprisonment or death.
His lawyer, however, said that they have held discussions with government regarding plea bargain and hoped that things will work out. It is also being speculated that since Headley is cooperating with the investigators, this could save him from going to the gallows.
