The Congress-led UPA has fought elections on 534 Lok Sabha seats out of total 543. However, the Congress party on its own has fielded candidates on 457 Lok Sabha seats.

The new comer in the politics, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which was successful in surprising everyone with its performance in the Delhi Assembly elections, failed to do the same in the Lok Sabha polls.

The party has fielded 430 candidates in the Lok Sabha elections. However, according to's CJs the party may get only 12-22 seats when the actual results will come.

The other parties, which are not part of either NDA or UPA may get 145-155 Lok Sabha seats, as per the predictions made by the CJs.

232-242    88-98 12-22

The majority of the exit polls have given magic number i.e. 272 to the NDA. The exit polls have also predicted that the Congress is going to give its worst ever performance, with the party restricting itself to the double digit figure in terms of number of seats it may win.

With Narendra Modi looking set to become the country's next Prime Minister, as the exit polls are indicating, now all eyes are on the list of probable ministers in his cabinet. However who will get what, will get clear only after the actual results on May 16.
