Damaged roads in old Gurgaon are posing to be great problems for the residents. They have tried to raise awareness with the authorities, but to no solution whatsoever. Dug up roads poses a number of problems and the monsoons are fast approaching in Gurgaon, which would water log the roads and increase the already frightful conditions of these roads. Thoroughly disturbed by the road conditions, residents raised their voice against the responsible people by complaining about them to the Ward 10 councilor Mangat Ram Bagri.
In a
letter, he acknowledged the problems of the residents to the
authorities. The councilor said that he is in constant touch with the
authorities and the contractors, but there is no progress. He further
said that the streets were dug up and have been the same for months.
Even a measure of 10 meters could not be finished up in a day where,
the contractor has to finish 29 such streets. One can assume if 10
meters could not be finished in a day so, how many days will it take
to finish up the whole project even after the residents are running
up and down the councilors office.
Bagri
said that the careless attitude of the contractor is at its peak.
After many struggles with the MCG, the construction work for all 29
streets could be allotted. Some two months back, the street with the
Shani temple was dug up by the contractor and then, the work was
stopped. Later on, the work was started again but was never
completed.
He
further added in his letter that the residents, at the beginning of
the construction, were very much excited about it but, with time, all
the excitement is lost. The contractor is very careless. When talking
to the authorities, they always forward their problems.
The
residents are very upset about it. Women can be seen outside the
councilor's office every other day, demanding for the commencement of
the construction. The councilor is being questioned by the people
that if the contractor is so careless and is not ready to work then
why was he even handed over the responsibility. The councilor in
response said that he is constantly asking the contractor and the
authorities the same question, but does not receive any meaningful
answer.
