3 dead as violent clash disrupts Guwahati
There was a huge clash between the policemen and farmers who were protesting against the eviction drive. The clash turned out to be very violent which lead to death of 3 people and around 50 people were injured during the clash.

THREE PERSONS died and more than 50 people were injured on Wednesday in Guwahati including some police officers and journalists in the scene as there was a huge clash between the police and the farmers. The farmers were protesting against the eviction drive as they were been driven out of their houses. Amongst those who were killed, also included a child aged nine.

More than 10, 000 peasants were involved in the protest as they wanted an end to the eviction drive. The protestors included women and children too. The protest was led by one of the prominent RTI activists, Akhil Gogoi. These people started to move towards the Secretariat, but the police did not allow them to enter the premises, so the mob got angry with the police and they began to burn police, private vehicles, school buses and ambulances too.

The police on the other hand resorted to baton charges and they even had to fire tear gas to control the mob that was becoming more aggressive. It was at this moment that the police fired at the protestors which lead to the death of three people. As the conditions were worsening   more police forces reached the spot.

Due to the heavy rainfall, there was a decrease in the number of protestors during the latter half of the day, but still there were a large group of people who protested till late evening during the heavy rainfall too. The mob dispersed with a positive mood when Hemanga Sarma, who is the commissioner of Lower Assam announced that their demands would be taken care of in the meeting, which has been scheduled for next week.
