Last week, toll collectors informed the commercial vehicles through a notice and requested them to pay toll from 15 August, 2014. This did not go well with the people from nearby villages. They reached the toll plaza in great number. Even the toll workers were taken as hostages in the presence of Sarpanches and Police.
Following this unexpected incident, Skylark Highway Solutions Company sent a written complaint to the Police Commissioner of Gurgaon and Chief administrator of NHAI. The company also requested the administration to lodge FIRs (First Information Report) under various sections of Indian Panel Code (IPC) against all the rioters, who destroyed the toll booth, interfered with the government revenue collection and for thrashed the toll workers and threatened them to death and also set the toll plaza on fire.
The company also alleged that these people run a racket under which they are making huge money by passing the commercial vehicles from other areas free without paying toll. Thus they are setting the government revenue back. Such activities are causing the loss of Rs 10 lakh to the government revenue on daily basis.
Skylark also wants to meet the Additional Chief State Home Secretary and Chief Secretary within this week and they have requested the Police Department to avail police personnel of 30 policemen at Kherki Daula Toll Plaza. From next week, any commercial vehicle denies paying toll will be issued a legal notice. Under the next proceedings, NHAI Administrator will be sent a proposal to act against the commercial vehicles that do not pay the tax and cancel their permits. Apart from this, commercial vehicles in industries from Gurgaon, Manesar, Baval will be requested to stop using the commercial vehicles of unsocial elements.
