THE MADHYA Pradesh government said that it did away with 3.6 million public complaints by providing for various things as asked by the denizens. The opposition party and the civil society, however, smell a rat. The ruling party said that they had to take notice of the complaints due to a law passed last year, which required them to provide various basic amenities.

All the claims that the Madhya Pradesh government is making, regarding resolving so many complaints, seems too good to be true. The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) said that 600,000 cases are resolved every month. The cases include issuing of caste, birth and marriage certificates, drinking water connections, ration cards and copies of land records.

However, the people in the state find such miraculous steps to be too good to be true. A teacher and a sociologist S.N.

In a country where a single law takes years to have any effect, this is a miracle. Many feel that this is just a whitewash and concocted truth as the party could be making this up. State Congress spokesman K.K. Mishra is of the view that, “The same officials who are supposed to ensure these services are sitting in judgment and claiming that each and every application is responded to on time. If that is the case, then why is the common man wary of the functioning of the collector's office and other departments?”

Reacting to Congress’s statement, a BJP spokesperson said that the attitude of Opposition party was of a ‘defeatist and negative mindset.’
