400 meter long tunnel discovered between India and Pakistan
The authorities on Friday discovered another long tunnel, running between India and Pakistan, along the International Border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, 2 years after they discovered a similar tunnel between India and Pakistan.

According to reports the tunnel running from Pakistan side to Indian Territory was discovered by BSF jawans at Chilyari post in Samba district while cleaning the bushes between the zero line and fence. Reports said that senior officials immediately rushed to the spot after getting the information of the tunnel.

However, IG BSF, S.S Tomar has denied of spotting any such tunnel in the area, although, according to sources he personally visited the spot for inspection. Sources said that the cleaning of the area was conducted after negotiations with Pak authorities and the tunnel was found. Though, the sources said that it is difficult to say that whether the tunnel is new or the old one.

Pertinent to mention that in July 2012, authorities discovered a 400-meter long tunnel, running between India and Pakistan, on the same Chilyari Post in Samba district.

The tunnel was detected after an area caved-in at two or three places due to rains near the Border Security Force's Chillayari Border Out Post.

"After the cave-in, the area was dug out to know the reason. But, the authorities were surprised to find a tunnel".

The tunnel, with a dimension of 3 feet by 3 feet, was running between Chillayari BOP and Pakistan's Numberiyal BOP. Dug at a depth of 25 feet below the ground level, it was 400 meter long on the Indian side. The tunnel had air supply through a 2 inch pipe.

The tunnel at that time was filled from Indian side but Pakistan resorted to indiscriminate firing when BSF reached near zero line and the work was suspended. Now it is suspected that this is the same tunnel but sources said that chances of being a new one cannot be ruled out.
