50 lakh sanctioned for dam repair
An amount of 50 lakh has been sanctioned under National Rural Development Scheme for the repair work of Pada bil dam under Saraibil constituency which was damaged for many years. Reconstruction of this dam will help with better irrigation facilities
AN AMOUNT of Rs 50 lakh has been sanctioned for the repair work of the Pada bil dam under Saraibil constituency which was damaged for many years.
On December 1, 2009, the foundation stone of the programme was laid. Rajen Narjary, MCLA of Saraibil constituency, said that the money is sanctioned under National Rural Development Scheme to repair the dam which has been not in proper use for more than 30 years. He further added that around 90 per cent population of nearby villages are dependent on agriculture and looking for the development of these areas, the scheme has been sanctioned.
Local people were very happy with the scheme and while talking to the media persons said that this dam was constructed by their own people just after the independence but was damaged a long time back. Reconstruction of this dam will help with better irrigation facilities to the people around the VCDC of Pada bils, Saraibil, Malaguri, Kamarpara and many other villages.
