IT'S TIME for television fanatics, who take much pleasure in delving into the lives of characters from period drama to modern life all week day long, to finally know if their favorite character on American television is also the characters worthy of an Emmy award, the most prestigious in the US and global television industry. This weekend all the television stars will come together for the 64 Annual Emmy Awards on September 23. The event will be telecasted live on ABC network in the US and other global networks. The show will be hosted by funny man Jimmy Kimmel.
This year the Emmy is bigger - with a total of 58 nominations as opposed to 43 nominations of 2011. This year the British historical drama 'Downtown Abbey' is against 'Mad Men' and 'Breaking Bad,' HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” and “Game of Thrones,” and Showtime’s “Homeland” in the best drama category. The specialty of this year's award will be the speculation over the fact that whether four time-winner 'Mad Men' will make history with winning the Emmy for the best drama for the fifth time or will someone else snatch away their glory.
The nominations for the best actress in a drama category include Julianna Margulies, Michelle Dockery, Elisabeth Moss, Kathy Bates, Claire Danes and Glenn Close. The toughest contender for the same is Claire Danes. The Modern Family has been taking the golden statue for the past two years and going by their last season everyone is hoping that they will this Sunday too win an Emmy for the best comedy series although The Big Bang theory, Curb your Enthusiasm, Girls and Veep gives tough competition to it. The best actor for drama category includes Steve Buscemi, Michael C Hall, Bryan Cranston, Hugh Bonneville, Jon Hamm and Damian Lewis.
Reality television will also be applauded for its attempts to entertain the audience with the Voice, Project Runway, Top Chef, Dancing with the Stars making it to the list.
