7 Simple Steps to Become Lucky 14 November, 2011
Luck has so much mystery element attached to it. Can luck be demystified? The author makes an attempt to demystify luck and suggests how we can become more lucky.

HORATIO ALGER in his famous book 'Ragged Dick', says, "Luck happens to those who greatly increase the chances of its occurrence." But how can we become luckier and invite more coincidences and more blessings from the universe? Or if you are very unlucky, how can you become less unluckier.

Here are 7 steps that have personally worked for me:-

Step 1

Remove your negative thoughts and limiting beliefs

This can be a long process depending upon how negative are you. First of all make a list of your negative emotions (eg. anger, grudges and so on). We all have one strong negative trait (also called tragic weakness), which often stops us from finding peace and happiness. Make an effort that negative thoughts do not stay in your mind for a long time. Make a list of your mental blocks and break them one by one by challenging them.

Step 2

Become truly positive

Once you have removed the negative emotions, you will start becoming truly positive. Another easier approach can be filling yourself with positive thoughts and negative emotions will automatically go away. Once a client asked me, "If I become positive people are more likely to misuse me." I said, "First become a smart human being, and then become a positive human being."

Step 3

Stay positive and motivated

Read positive books, stay in the company of positive people and you will able to maintain positivity. The negative state of mind will keep on coming back but don't let it stay for a long time. As soon as negative thoughts start coming, shift your focus. Give a call to your friend, read an inspirational quote or talk to a positive colleague or family member.

Step 4

Silence your conscious mind

Start meditating or blank your mind by focus exercises. Conscious mind is the source of all the stress and limiting beliefs. It also makes the sub-conscious ineffective by overpowering it with negative thoughts. It may initially appear to be difficult depending upon the noise in your mind but with practice you will become more joyful and relaxed.

Step 5

Activate the sub-conscious

As soon as the conscious mind is silenced, you will be able to hear the voice of your sub-conscious mind. If you are spiritually inclined, you can consider it the voice of your soul. It will give you wisdom and intuition to attract the positive forces in your life. Buy some books on the power of sub-conscious mind and law of attraction and start listening to your intuition. With practice the voice will become stronger and stronger.

Step 6

Genuinely connect with peopleI read a simple formula for this on the internet, 'Smile at people, talk to people and be nice to people.'

There are two routes to success. One is aggression and competition (which is more stressful and success rather brings unhappiness) and the other route is cooperation and collaboration. Given a chance what would you prefer, cut throat competition or shoulder to shoulder collaboration. Remember, the social media is going to slowly move the entire world towards collaboration.

Step 7

Show the fire in your Belly

It is not enough to have fire in your belly. You must demonstrate to your friends, family, relatives, colleagues and society that you have a fierce determination to achieve what you want. People respect strong determination and everyone wants to support a person who is walking the path of success.

Stay in the company of positive and successful people and you will keep finding the clues that success leaves behind.The miracles will begin now. The right people, situations and coincidences will keep on increasing. And soon you will find that you are no more happy go lucky, but you have actually become lucky. And you can murmur to yourself, 'Oye lucky, lucky oye'
