7-year-old girl beaten like an animal for not doing her homework
India is yet to understand, what the parents and teachers should do to make their wards well educated. Many teachers continue to think that beating is the only way by which a student can secure good marks, which is absolutely inappropriate and illogical.

It was a regular happy morning for this seven-year-old innocent girl from Nelamangala on the outskirts of Bengaluru. But, her happiness didn't last long due to an unprecedented incident that shattered all her dreams. The girl would never have imagined that she would come home running, crying in pain with severe injuries on her body.

40-year-old Madam Latha, a tuition teacher in the area was furious when she saw that the girl had not done her homework and started beating her like an animal. It is also disgusting to note that Latha later took out a leather belt and allegedly beat the young girl blindly without listening to a word from her.

The girl's father, a local businessman, filed a police complaint at the Nelamangala police station. Sources said that the teacher has a history of beating students to punish them, which is against the rules framed for the protection of child rights as well as under the universal declaration of human rights of children across the globe.

"She used to go for tuitions from 5 - 8 pm. She earlier complained about the teacher beating her. But this time, the teacher almost killed her. Hence we approached the police. We sent her for tuition because she was very naughty and was not focusing on studies," the girl's mother said.

Although a case has been registered, the police is yet to arrest the teacher as she is absconding.

"We are going to look into all the angles. Why would the family pressurize a 2nd standard child with tuitions. The teacher used to charge Rs 10,000 per student. Who gave her the permission to start a tution centre like this. We will definitely take stringent action," a representative from Makkala Sahayavani - children's help wing of the police said.
