75 Indian players to take part in 10th World Winter Games
The Special Olympics Bharat is organising a 'Sending off Ceremony' for the Indian delegates scheduled to take part in 10th World Winter Games, on Friday at the Mantra Hall at the Park Hotel, Connaught Place, New Delhi.
According to Special Olympics Bharat Director – Resource Mobilisation Rati Misra, the 10th World
Winter Games will be held in Pyeong Chang , South Korea, which will have participation of over 3300 athletes from 112 nations. The Special Olympics India
will be able to send the 75 athletes and coaches who have worked tirelessly for the last two years to prepare for these games.
Every two years, thousands of Special Olympics athletes worldwide come together to showcase their athletic skills and celebrate the spirit of Special Olympics. The first Special Olympic World
Games took place in 1968 and since then have evolved into a world-class sporting event, attracting a wide range of sponsors, supporters and media.
Alternating between Summer Games and Winter Games, Special Olympics World Games bring public attention to the talents and capabilities of people with intellectual disabilities, helping to change attitudes and break down barriers that excluded them from the mainstream of the community.
