A show, popular for action, drama and adventure with a voyeuristic touch will be hosted by Rannvijay Singh again this year. According to a social media blog, India social, monthly active users on MTV Roadies Facebook are 1,574,139 (78% of total fan base), total post views per day are 152,788,912, making it one of the most viewed posts among Indian brands Interactions 2-3x higher than the top brand pages in India get.

Roadies, provided with Hero Honda karizma bikes travel on pre-decided routes and the show features a vote-out in which a team member is eliminated from the show through an anonymous vote. A Roadie who survives till the end becomes the winner and is awarded all the cash accumulated by performing ‘money tasks’.

People selected from different corners of the country with totally different lifestyles take part in the show and the previous eight editions of the show have been massively high on the popularity chart. The show has hooked in people from all walks of life from college-goers to kids and housewives. Its popularity can also be judged from the fact that every show receives thousands of entries from people across the country who aspire to participate in the high-energy show.

Tough guys playing death-defying motorcycle stunts keep people hooked to the show and the best part about it is the adventure and ‘what will happen next’ element, as every show has something different on its platter, so literally you can’t predict anything. Rannvijay who was the first winner of the show plays the host again this year, and will test physical and mental calibre of participants through various thrilling tasks. By making the life of a contestant miserable, leads to the ultimate winner of 5 lakh cash prize and a bike.

Outrageous tasks and offensive language is what has been making people’s minds dirty, is one of the USPs of the show besides the honesty that nothing is rigged on the roads. Contestants are detached from the world, as their cellphones are taken away, they are not provided a TV, nor are they allowed to talk to strangers. This has added more masala to the show and another important part of the show is that new tasks are added every year, much to the interest of viewers.

But show hasn't escaped its share of controversies as people have accused it of damaging the moral fabric through its offensive language. Some people also claimed that everything in the show is scripted, which organisers are not ready to buy. Now in the ninth avatar, people are impatiently watching out for the show and its tough contestants whose mental toughness has surprised everyone.
