A case of mismanagement and wastage of public funds
The engineering department VI of Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), instead of filing up the pot-holes is going for tendering, thus wasting over Rs 20 lacs of the public fund.

THE ROAD stretching between RD 980-2030 meters in village Pwala Khursopur (Jhajgarh) was carpeted in April, 2011 and the details regarding its quality, etc were acquired through an RTI application. Now recently after the rains, a stretch of hardly 80-100 feet has developed pot-holes in the specified area.

A grievance in this regard was lodged on July 7 with CFC (Citizen Facilitation Center) to cover up these pot-holes but all the time the personnel deputed at the call centre conveyed the same pre-recorded message that since ‘the area is unapproved, as per the JE, Harjender Singh, it can’t be taken care of.'

Lately when we took up the case strongly with higher authorities, they filled the pot-holes with soil  from the nearby areas, which got washed away in the rains within a day or two.

Only yesterday we have come to know through CFC itself that Mr Singh is now on the verge of inviting tenders to re-carpet the road, which meaning an additional financial burden of over Rs 20 lacs(the amount spent last time) on the state exchequer. It is merely a wastage of public funds.

The case has been completely mishandled by the engineering staff of EE-VI. The work which could have been easily done with broken bricks/ stones/ waste at the cost of few thousands, is costing lacs – thanks to the negligence and mismanagement of the EE- VI, MCG and his team. It seems that the department lacks proper guidelines.
