A CJ's open letter to Leander Paes
I thank Leander for being such a sport after the selection fiasco of the Olympic team. This is an open letter to Leander Paes asking him to give his best during London Olympics, and also groom his partner, Vishnu Vardhan for the future.

Dear Leander,

You are a true Indian. You have always been a great ambassador for Indian Tennis. There were rumours, which suggested that you are not willing to partner Vishnu Vardhan for the Olympics. It was understood, when you were unhappy with the AITA's decision of partnering with a low-ranked player. But, after some time you came out in the open and declared your willingness to play with Vardhan. It was a great gesture shown by an Indian, who has always put the nation before himself.

You must have been the most disappointed player among the Indian stars when the final Tennis team was announced for the Olympics. You had the right not to play along side Vishnu Vardhan as you were technically allowed to choose a player of your choice for the London Olympics. But, you were not successful in it. The AITA took advantage of your love for the nation. They knew deep inside that you would keep your ego aside and pair up with whosoever AITA decides. But the same cannot be said for Mahesh Bhupathi, who was hell bent on not going to the Olympics with you as his partner.

It may be for the last time that you would be representing India in Olympics. It is time for you to deliver, though you have already won a medal. But, if you win a medal this time around, you are surely going to establish yourself as one of the greatest Indian athletes. Vardhan does not have much experience at such professional level, so it is your responsibility to groom the player and bring the best out of him. Your presence on the court is going to be a moral booster for the player. You have encouraged many young players on the court. For the nation's sake, push him to his limit so that he brings out the best out of himself. Vishnu Vardhan needs you and the nation needs a medal from the pair.

The passion with which you play for the country is for everyone to see during the Davis Cup. Even if you are not present on the court to play, you encourage players from the stands and cheer them on to defeat his opponent. The same kind of attitude is required during the Olympics. I would be joking, if I asked you to give 100% for the nation, as you always give more than 100% for the country. Your never give up attitude has taken you to great heights, so we, Indians, would like you to show us your true colours during London Olympics, for the last time, while playing for the nation.

Even if you fail to do so, we know that you must have given it your all during the event. We will always respect you for the decisions you have taken in professional life for the greater interest of the country. You have always been a hero and will always remain one.
