A great day for Ryan
Students of Ryan International School, Sector-11, Rohini, New Delhi, learnt that Russia boasted of the world?s largest forest reserves and was known as the lungs of Europe. The forests provided oxygen not only to Europe but also to the entire world.
STUDENTS OF Ryan International School, Sector-11, Rohini, visited the Russian Centre for Science and Culture to familiarise themselves with Russia. This visit was organised by RN Anil, founder and secretary general of Unity India Foundation and Dr Parveen Gupta, editor-in-chief of Public News. Fyodor A Rozovskiy, counsellor, Embassy of Russia and director of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, guided the students and helped the students learn more about Russia. The students were taken to the Exhibition Hall where they got to see works of art, books, paintings, etc.

Rozovskiy explained the cultural, political and historical aspects of Russia. He highlighted that Russia boasted of the world’s largest forest reserves and was known as the lungs of Europe. The forests provided oxygen not only to Europe but also to the entire world. As for his country’s climate, he said there were two major seasons, viz., winter and summer. The coldest month was January when temperature would fall to -20 degree Celsius.

Talking about the languages spoken in Russia, he said, in Russia, people mainly speak Russian. Nowadays, in the major cities, people had started using the English language too. As for religion, he said Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and Judaism were traditionally followed in Russia. Coming to the field of sports, Russians played lawn-tennis, soccer, base ball, etc.

Ryanities posed many questions which they wanted to be answered comprehensively. They were in-depth questions which sought micro-level information on Russia. Public News presented the Dristikon Award to Fyodor A. Rozovskiy and the head-mistress, Mamta Nanda, for their services in the field of social work.
