A guide to Onions: Things you need to know about them
Sometimes we try to figure out, which variety of Onions do makes us cry. Here we show you what the difference is and where to use them.

Sweet onion- These are light pinkish brown in color and are best for frying, you can make them to make onion rings and for roasting vegetables. They impart a mild sweet flavour.

Red onions- If you are someone who like eating onions raw, then red onions are the one that you should have. They are mostly used in pickled onions and sandwitches.

White onions- They are the crunchiest and have a sharp zing, which many of us might not like. Because of their strong flavour they are mostly used in salsas, chutneys and stuffed rice.

Yellow onions- These are the most versatile and widely used onions in cooking. They can be used in anything from meat dishes to salad, soups and stews.

Shallots- These are the tinier ones that come in cluster and look like garlic, their flavour is milder than most other types of onions. They are used for venigarets, for casserole and also for garnishing.

Scallions - Sometimes referred to as green onions, they have a pleasing mild flavor that lends itself to using raw in salads and as a garnish for soups or pasta, as well as in quick-cooking dishes like stir-fries.
