Yes, we lost Suarez to Barcelona. We would have loved him to stay in the Merseyside for a couple of seasons, but he chose Barca, deservedly so. He was too good a player not to play for the best side in the world. No matter who you are, what joy you have brought to the club, how many goals you have scored, how many matches you may have won single handedly, no player is bigger than the club, as Liverpool's history suggests so as well.
The Uruguayan will be sorely missed, but his transfer might come as a blessing in disguise, for he was sold for a huge sum, which is being primarily used by Brendan Rodgers in buying players, who wants to play for Liverpool's crest (Manquillo, Lallana, Markovic ditched other clubs to play for us) . We may not have signed big names, which would become the instant talk of the town, but have signed those who suit our style of play.
Friends of mine, who does not support Liverpool believe that we are not even going to finish in the top four. I would silently like to state to them - we may not have Suarez, who was the main focus player for us, everything revolved around him, but the story has changed now - we have become a team of eleven players compared to last season, where Liverpool was synonymous with Suarez. His failure spelled the mood of Liverpool fans. Now, each player has a defined role, where all the eleven players look dangerous and as a unit, the force is with Liverpool.
This team will challenge for the title. Yes, we are young and inexperience so what??? We have some of the most exciting players on the planet. Last year, even some Manchester, Chelsea, Arsenal fans conceded that it was fun to watch Liverpool play, for it was all about entertainment. Watch us this season, it is going to be double fun, where the offensive line minus Suarez has luckily become more silky and pacy. How will defenders control Markovic, Sturridge, Sterling on the break? Will they ever catch us? It is going to be a nightmare for defenders.
Yes, our Gerrard did slip once, and he has not forgotten the slip. It has pained him ever since. He needs to keep that pain deep within and use it to his advantage. Come this season, he is more determined to make other teams slip with his leadership qualities, which stand parallel to none. People do criticize about Gerrard's age, but Rodgers seems to be getting the best out oh him playing a deeper role. The skipper is relinquishing it. He is Liverpool's wine, the older the better.
Oh yes, forgot to mention, we have greater depth in our squad, though, not as much as Chelsea and City. The players seems to have been handpicked by the manager, who if guided properly, could become a household name for the reds. Emre Can seems to be one of the best buys for the club, as they lacked a strong physical player last season, who could out-muscle opponents. In Lallana, they have a player with incredible creativity and deft touches, Markovic is Liverpool's Ussain Bolt, Lovren is the next Carragher, Lambert a boyhood Liverpool fan and the two full backs are just what the doctor ordered for Liverpool.
Liverpool leaked in a number of goals last season and many claim had we had a good defensive line, we could have clinched the title. Brendan knew about it and has hence brought some quality players to bolster the squad.
With a few days to go, there is some more business
to be conducted, as per Brendan Rodgers and one needs no rocket scientist to explain our needs of a second striker. We have Daniel Sturridge as first choice, but need a quality back up. Once this is done, we may soon be back to where we rightfully belong ? champions of English Football.
