ISL - Indian Super League
A look at the Indian Super League semi-finalists
The Indian Super League was expected to be the next big thing in Indian football and the competition has not disappointed anyone. With jam-packed football stadiums and good crowd support, one could witness the beautiful game's victory. Such packed stadiums was a rarity in Indian football.

The competition comprised of a number of international (former players primarily), along with Indian stars. There were doubts about the quality of football that would be at the offing, but the quality surpassed all expectations. The ISL was of such a competitive nature that the entire semi-finalists line up was only determined on the final day of the round robin stages.

Four teams, namely Chennaiyin FC, FC Goa, Atletico Kolkata and Kerala Blasters sealed a spot for the play-off berth. Lets look at these teams individually.

Chennaiyin FC

Chennaiyin FC has been the best team in the competition with 23 points. They only lost three matches and won six matches. Right from the outset, Chennaiyin FC team has looked in great shape with consistent performances, finding the back of the net 24 times in the competition. If the team displays the same consistency in the knockout round, it would be very difficult for any team to defeat the ever increasing confident bunch of Chennaiyin players.

Highest goal scorer: Elano – 8 goals

FC Goa

After a pathetic start to the competition, who would have thought about the possibility of FC Goa making it to the play off stage? Not many, apart from the players and their fans. Their first six matches result read - loss, draw, loss, loss, win and loss. But, it is what shaped after that, which makes a fairytale finish. In the next eight matches, they did not lose a single game, but won an impressive five games. This team is one a purple patch and it would take something special stop their special display. They have scored 21 goals in the competition.

Highest goal scorer: Miroslav Slepicka – 5 goals

Atletico de Kolkata

Atletico's performance has been contrast to FC Goa's, as the team from Kolkata was quick off the blocks winning three out of the four matches, after which the team's performance stalled. They sealed a semi-final berth only after drawing their last fixture against FC Goa at the expense of Delhi Dynamos. In spite of such downfall in their performance, they have a strong team and no team will take this team from granted in the knock out stage. They scored 16 goals in the competition.

Highest goal scorer: Fikru Teferra

Kerala Blasters

Kerala Blasters just managed to finish the round robin stages in fourth position with 19 points in the table. Though, they were inconsistent at times with five wins and five losses. But, the team picked up an important victory when it mattered the most in their last game against FC Pune, which helped them attain a play off berth. Out of the four teams, it is Kerala, who might have the least chance to win the title, but as the saying goes, 'anything can happen in football'. Kerala just managed to score 9 goals in the competition.

Highest goal scorer: Iain Hume – 4 goals
