A piece of humour before 23th May 2019
"A person without a sense of humour is like a wagon without springs. It's jolted by every pebble on the road.".....Henry Ward Beecher

Yes, I agree with Henry Ward in its entirety and found nothing wrong when Union Minister, the two-and-half'th powerful man in the present Modi Cabinet - Shri Arun Jaitley enlightened us with the revelation that humour, wit, sarcasm survive in a free society. They have no place in autocracies. Dictators laugh at people. They don't like people laughing at them.

Reacting to the development after Lady Priyanka Sharma shared a meme on May 9, 2019 in which Mamata Banerjee's face was superimposed on a picture of actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas at MET Gala 2019. Mamta Didi, the Street Fighter and Politician, the CM of West Bengal got the BJP leader arrested on Friday. She was sent to 14-days judicial custody.

It was an autocratic reaction of an unpredictable TMC leader and this scribe Ghor Ninda Karta Hai – in the words of Shri Rajnath Singh. We all know that morphing done with graphics software like Adobe Photoshop has become a part of the current practice of cartooning the world over today. It is no more offensive as long as it doesn't insult the religious icons. I do believe that we all must accord proper respect to all great religious thinkers also but we reserve our rights to question their doctrines, their personal lives and the rational of their messages. They have to withstand the scrutiny of Human Rights; the universal constants of Justice and Truth; the simple scales of Wisdom within the well defined limits of decency. There is no immunity from criticism to anyone who had entered public life or making an entry in public life.

Having said that, I must accentuate the fact that all political leaders also must be grilled with the same template, the recent interviews on display and the partiality shown on Idiot Box speak the other story. While the leaders of BJP / RSS / NDA are given most of the screen exposure with the support of partisan blinkered anchors and numerical strength of debaters, the Opposition leaders are not given the same weight as they should have been. The story might change in a few days.

Now, coming back to amateur Photo Shop job done by BJP's young worker from Bengal, I didn't feel it offensive at all. It symbolises the maturity of democracy and should always be taken with a pinch of salt. Mamta Didi got no brownies by arresting her. On Tuesday, the top court had first allowed Sharma bail on the condition that she apologises, but later modified the order, and said she should apologise when she was set free. Priyanka Sharma had been in custody since May 10. Unnecessarily, the BJP leader's release from custody was delayed by a day and The Supreme Court on Wednesday censured the West Bengal government for that. The court asked why Sharma was not released immediately, and said her arrest was prima facie arbitrary.

After her release, she has been giving that political statements about her torture during incarceration as expected and that makes no difference as so many other violent incidents are being witnessed after that owing to other political strategies.

Interestingly, the Congress leader Divya Spandana who had been given the task of reviving INC's social media wing and was made national head of Congress's digital team at national level in May 2017 forwarded an interesting tweet. Spandana mocked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Trinamool Congress (TMC). She had questioned Shri Jaitley why she was charged with sedition after she had posted a meme mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi?

Not long ago, Divya Spandana had tweeted a digitally altered image of Adolf Hitler and Narendra Modi that compares the two with each other. In the image, you could see Hitler pulling the ears of a small girl and on the other side Modi is shown pulling the ears of a boy. The intention of the tweet was quite clear in the cloak of humour. It intends to compare the two leaders and attract attention towards the similarity between the two with the caption, "what are your thoughts?"

Who is Divya Spanda?

Earlier, she was known professionally as Ramya, an Indian film actress who worked in Tamil and Telugu language films. Ramya is also the recipient of two Filmfare Awards south, an Udya Award and a Karnataka State Film Award. She had joined 'Indian Youth Congress' in 2012 and became a Member of Parliament from Mandya constituency in Karnataka by winning the by-election in 2013.

Very recently, at Chandigarh, a group of activists dressed in graduation robes turning up to sell what they termed as "Modiji ke pakode". The protesters, however, failed to "sell" much of the fried snack they had brought along. The police personnel at the venue whisked them away before the event could even begin. The protest was held in response to a controversial remark on employment made by PM Modi in an interview early last year. "If a person selling pakodas earns two hundred rupaya at the end of the day, will it be considered as employment or not?" It was a response dismissing criticism by opposition parties that the BJP government had failed to fulfil its pre-2014 promise of generating two crore jobs every year.. A video of the incident showed protesters at the rally shouting "Buy pakodas made by engineers" and "BA and LLB pakodas for sale" while being herded into an open police van. One of them, a woman sporting black-rimmed glasses and an Oxford cap, was particularly scathing in her criticism of the central government's achievements. "Modiji has given us new jobs through his unique pakoda employment scheme. That is why we have come to show our appreciation with pakodas. After all, there is no better way for our educated youth to make a living," she was heard saying.

Somebody advised the innocent Indians who were waiting for ACHCHE DIN before the general election 2019:

"Identify what you could have done better. Maybe what happened to you wasn't your fault, but that doesn't mean that you couldn't have handled it better. What did youmess up? What do you wish you could go back and change?"

Come 23th May 2019 and we will get to know!
