A research says social networking sites are boring. Are they?
Facebook and Twitter are seen to constitute a major part of people's lives these days but a strange study has found that people are getting bored of these sites. Merinews spoke to some people about the survey and its shocking findings.
ALTHOUGH THIS may sound weird but a research conducted by the Commerce Chamber, ASSOCHAM has found that youths are getting bored of social media. Merinews received mixed reactions from people as they were asked to react to the research findings.
When asked, Ashim Sunam said, “After a hard day’s work, when I return home, I just want to catch up with my friends and so
Facebook and other social media are the best outlets. It acts like a stress buster and recreation, so I cannot agree with the survey.”
The survey saw that youths were spending less time on these sites as compared to the period when registered on these websites. Sujata Banerjee, an MCA, says, “It is almost like marriage. After the honeymoon period, everyone needs their space. So I guess the honeymoon period is over. At least it got over for me a long time back and these days I just go to see what people are up to and then return to my films when I want to relax.”
As per the survey that was reported in timesofindia.com, 55 percent of the respondents said that they did reduce their time on the social networking sites and no longer were as active and another 30 percent said that they deleted and removed their accounts. While most of the people do not go to this extreme end of the tunnel but after the novelty wears off, it is sometimes a tad boring to be doing the same old thing.
However, a girl, who wished to be anonymous said, “I live with my parents and I would love to watch television for the better part of the day but then they would know that I am wasting my time. So I stay on social networks as they don’t understand the concept and I do what I want to.”
