After the brief conversation, out of three sales men, two came to attend me and the other two ladies). However I noticed a little confusion among both of them. Finally they settled down their perplexity within minutes. One of them came to attend me and the other one went to attend the other two ladies.
I asked… “Bhaiya…Koi problem hay kya? (Is there any problem?)”
He said, “Arre nahin Madam, Woh kya hei na ki in logon ko attend karna achha nehi lagta hai, Ek to inki baat bhi samajh mein nahi aati aur upar se inki pasand bhi samajh mein nahi aata (We don't like to attend them because we can't understand their language as well as their choice) ”
Oh!! Then I noticed the other ladies were black and were not of my country for sure. I understood that both the salesmen wanted to attend me and not them. However it was not a good occasion to give a lecture to the salesperson on humanity or racism. So I ignored and asked for the collections.
“Sometime I believe our shopkeeper knows our taste better than us”. He showed me certain selected attires and insisted me to try out some of them.
However after around twenty minutes I was tired of the options as I couldn’t finalize anything. Basically shopping alone is not easy. We normally prefer a friend or relative to accompany us to give an honest feedback. So I was about to say that I would visit the shop later with a friend to choose some of them, when I observed one of the two ladies looking at me.
I couldn’t stop smiling at her. Surprised to my thought she came towards me and picked out two tops and a denim jegging and insisted me to try them out. (Perhaps she understood my feelings) Though bewildered I followed her suggestions.
Finally I chose some of the attires honestly on their feedback. I was assured by the shopkeeper (I must say he and his salesmen were also surprised with the way everything happened within us) that I can exchange later if I don’t like any of them. Finally I waved them good bye after thanking them.
However point is not that what I purchased. What surprised me is the way the other ladies behaved. Surely it is a very insignificant incident but what is notable about it is we didn’t feel the inequality between us.
“Often our humanity crosses the border of caste, color, creed, look or community among us many a times” without taking any prior consent of our mind.
Perhaps we unknowingly behave like human being but knowingly indulge ourselves in inhuman acts such as racial prejudices or any kind of inequality. Our minds are deeply clutched with discrimination and differences but our hearts are always open to tolerance, broad-mindedness and open-mindedness.
At the end we are all human irrespective of our birth lands, our culture and our beliefs etc. Good and evil resides in every mind. Also soul is the purest thing in every living body. Hatred can only be conquered by Love. Earth may have physical bordering lines in terms of village, city state or country but Heart has no such dividing lines. It exists in its purest form inside everyone of us. Please note that “Earth and Heart” are two words with same alphabets.
What I mean to say is it is only a thought of being human that dissolves all sorts of inequality that are inhuman….isn’t it?
