Aamir Khan's attendance in a humble wedding: Marketing or good deed?
Aamir Khan is known to be a man of innovation, especially when it comes to promoting his films. Is..

AS NEWS about perfectionist Aamir Khan going to a riskshaw driver’s wedding gathers momentum in the media, one wants to think that whether Khan has a good heart and respects others or should one acknowledge a nagging feeling of the thought that it might be a publicity stunt - the latter thought is indeed creepy. Fans might find the thinking outrageous but this is not the first time that the actor has been known to promote his films and shows in an unconventional way.

From giving people a Ghajini haircut to playing a prank on himself for Peepli Live, he has done every kind of trick in and out of the book - and always pulls more rabbits out of his hat to create some kind of advertising genius. His dream project Satyamev Jayate is about to be launched on May 6 and by the looks of it, the show essentially deals with the common man of India. Thus, what better way to get a place in the common man’s heart other than showing that he cares for them and would also attend their wedding.

However, some credibility should be given to the actor who was introduced to rickshaw driver Ramlakhan Paswan in 2009, when apparently Khan was in a disguise and was in Varanasi, reported ndtv.com. The actor was looking for his grandmother’s house and the man helped him to find it and also develop a strong bond with him in just three days. After Aamir Khan returned to Mumbai, he sent three air tickets to Ramlakhan so that he could attend the premier of 3 idiots.

What appears to be straight out of a Bollywood film, Ramlakhan had not forgotten about his famous celebrity friend and made a tedious journey from Varanasi to Mumbai in an unreserved train compartment to invite him on his daughter’s wedding.

However, when one learned that initially Aamir thought of just sending a CD with his best wishes but then changed his mind and attended the humble wedding, one thinks what may have brought about the change of heart. Although one wants to think that in a world of marketing and PR, Aamir is doing something out of the goodness of his heart but facts cast a shadow of doubt on his motivation.
