However, it was a clever and judicious decision by BJP top brass (that includes Modi, Jaitely and Harsh Vardhan), that it neither presented its claim to form the government nor it indulged in horse trading. This decision was taken in wake of the upcoming general elections. They were thinking that re-election would be in the offing along with Lok Sabha election.
In the mean time things changed dramatically and AAP formed a minority government. But is there any point for BJP to topple the government? I don’t think so? Longer the AAP government continues, more would be the controversy and sole beneficiary would be BJP! Also even if BJP want to indulge in horse trading, it can do after general elections, where there would be no need of re-election also!
Further if horse trading is to be done, then why only AAP members in target? There are independent and Congress candidates too! Thus it can not be a wise decision for BJP to topple this government harming party interest! AAP would be in the streets claiming martyrdom, if toppled! Thus it’s clear that BJP cannot be a party to such horse trading especially before general elections 2014!
Then is AAP member telling a lie? If one closely scrutiny the press conference, one could realize that the story was cooked. ‘A person from Gujarat having close connection to Modi’ is such a reference that exposes the lie. Modi may whatever do, will not be interested to take risk in any such game which may backfire. Even if BJP indulged in horse trading, there would not be any reference of any big leader forget about its prime ministerial candidate.
What made AAP to go for such a bizarre allegation? Answer is simple that AAP is facing internal turmoil. Its members including founding member Madhu Bhaduri are leaving the party. Not only party member but also MLAs find themselves ignored in the party. As per complains inside AAP only a small group is dictating the term undermining inter-party democracy.
One can understand from the arrogant attitude of this group! With a national ambition, AAP is sensing the risk of internal division which would put Kejriwal’s leadership capability at stake. People naturally would ask ‘if you can’t control 28 MLAs and a small state party unit, how can you govern India had you been voted to power at the Center?’
Problem is AAP is risking its credibility by making allegations without any proof. If there is an allegation against their member, they would quickly ask for proof. However, while leveling allegations against opposition leaders they do not care about proofs. This is duality.
Looks AAP is practicing hit and run strategy. Such strategy sometimes clicks when done rarely. But if you practice it day out and day in, none will trust you even if the allegations are true. Thus AAP needs to re-establish the credibility. Public is not ready to accept cooked up stories!
