AAP MLA Somnath Bharti detained for assaulting AIIMS security guards
Aam Aadmi Party's controversial MLA Somnath Bharti has been arrested by the Delhi Police on Thursday for allegedly assaulting security guards of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
According to the police, on September 9, he incited a crowd that damaged a property during an anti-encroachment exercise. In last two days, Somnath Bharti is the second AAP leader to be arrested.

"I am in Hauz Khas police station under arrest in Gautam Nagar kalah," Bharti informed through a tweet. Later, a senior police officer too confirmed the news.

As per the complaint, "MLA Somnath Bharti and around 300 of his supporters assembled in Gautam Nagar near Nallah Road dead-end, and started breaking a fence on the boundary wall with the help of an earth mover to give access to unauthorised persons on AIIMS premises. They claimed that the road belonged to the general public. When our security guards tried to step in, he attacked them."

However, the MLA said he was at the AIIMS to facilitate a drive planned by the Public Works Department. Defending himself, he denied there was any clash. However, senior police officers claimed they had video evidence to prove the allegations.

Yesterday, another AAP lawmaker, Amanatullah Khan, was detained on a sexual assault complaint filed by his kin.
