Even after getting clarification from Congress, regarding their unconditional support, AAP started a new 'Nautanki' (drama) of seeking public opinion on forming government. Such drama definitely has any logic. Let's find why?
In the assembly elections AAP got 30% of the votes. Thus 70% of the voters didn’t vote AAP. However in our democracy voting percentage is never considered, rather number of seats bears importance. The number is in favour of AAP with unconditional support from Congress and a JDU member. Thus the step of seeking public opinion is totally irrational. To which 25 lakh people AAP is referring to? Are they who voted AAP or they didn’t voted AAP. How can it be differentiated who voted them or who didn’t vote?
This sms, online and telephonic opinion seeking apart from letter writing is nothing but a type of opinion poll. Does AAP want to form government on the basis of opinion polls? If yes, isn't it insulting the electoral system mandated by Constitution?
Now if the so called opinion poll gives a mandate to AAP to form government in Delhi, will they take every decision based on opinion polls? Such as whether to reduce electric tariff, let’s have an opinion poll, for deciding to prosecute a criminal let’s have an opinion poll, even for how many day’s the assembly session would go on, let’s have an opinion poll!
Point is public was interested to know how would be the new unorthodox system of political functioning, but never expected mockery in using the poll verdict. All acts of AAP are now irritating the people. Don’t know whether Kejriwal is dictating the terms or a special team of coterie is guiding him, but frankly with comedy of democratic values, AAP is simply decimating public dream of changed polity.
It’s high time, AAP should stop the ‘Nautanki’ and straight away tell the people whether it’s forming the government or not. Opinion poll, 270 meetings and all such antics only amount to insult Delhi public instead of creating a new clean and transparent governance and political conduct.
