THE FILM reviews of Aarakshan are not as great as would be expected from the film maker of Rajneeti. Apart from Amitabh Bachchan’s electrifying performance and the seriousness of the theme, the movie is quite simple. Prakash Jha has tried to dream high but he has not put much strength into the story. Many critics are saying that the first half of the movie is good and talks about the theme Aarakshan but the second half is completely a different story.
Starring Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpai, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Prateik Babbar, Aarakshan, shows the tussle between the people for and anti-reservation. Saif Ali Khan represents the Dalit group and is the brilliant student who faces many hardships because of his caste. He supports reservations that would help the elevation of this group of people.
On the other hand Prateik Babbar represents the upper middle class or as we all know the General class who are against the reservations due to the obvious fact.
According to some critics actors other than Amitabh Bachchan were not explored much and hence the audience could only see bits and pieces of them. Amitabh Bachchan clearly reigned supreme in the film and he has given a splendid performance. All in all the movie can be watched once. Due to great expectations many critics might have been disappointed as Aarakshan is a safe movie, which takes up the theme of reservation in India but does not say anything very strongly regarding the same.
