Aarushi murder: CBI raids Noida Hospital
The CBI raided the Noida District Hospital, looking for some missing documents relating to the post-mortem, six months after the murder of Aarushi. It suspects the post-mortem report was fudged and that the doctors of the hospital were involved
INTERESTINGLY, RAJESH Talwar, father of Arushi, who was arrested and later granted bail in connection with the murder, has moved the Apex Court, seeking framing of guidelines for media reporting in sensitive cases.

A spokesman said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided the Noida District Hospital, where Aarushi’s post - mortem had been conducted. It found certain documents relating to Aarushi’s post-mortem. It had reportedly seized certain documents from the hospital. However, its officers declined to reveal more about the said documents.

Aarushi, a 14-year-old student of Delhi Public School, was found murdered in her Jalvavayu Vihar apartment in Noida, on May 16. The Noida police initially suspected Hemraj for the murder, but his dead body was found on the terrace of the same apartment a day later. It then accused Aarushi’s father Rajesh Talwar, a noted dentist, of murdering the two and arrested him on May 23, 2008.

Following public criticism of the police probe, the case was transferred to the CBI. It took over the probe May 31, 2008, and gave a clean chit to Talwar. CBI sleuths zeroed in on Talwar’s Nepali medical assistant Krishna and two other domestic helps, viz, Raj Kumar and Vijay Mandal, who worked in the same neighbourhood. They were detained and subjected to narco-analysis tests, during which they confessed to the crime, according to the CBI. They were arrested on the basis of the findings of the narco-analysis tests, which were not admissible in the court as evidence. The three, however, are out on bail now and two of the accused, viz, Raj Kumar and Mandal, have fled to Nepal since.

The CBI is yet to recover the murder weapon and the mobile phones of Aarushi and her domestic help, Hemraj. A clueless CBI also announced a reward of Rs 100000 for information vital to the case.

Meanwhile, Rajest Talwar has moved the Supreme Court with a plea for framing guidelines for media reporting in sensitive cases. He has sought intervention in the Uttar Pradesh police contention that its probe into the case had proceeded in the right direction and publicity was given to the case to avoid speculation. Talwar has accused the Uttar Pradesh police of misleading the CBI, which is investigating into the murder of his daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj.

Rajesh Talwar sought the intervention in a PIL filed by advocate Surat Singh, who has pleaded for restraining the media from giving adverse publicity to the case. The Uttar Pradesh police, in response to the notice, have said that they were prima facie satisfied that Dr Talwar was involved in the double murder.

The state police have contended before the Apex Court that they conducted a fair investigation into the case and followed all the necessary rules under the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) before arresting Talwar. The investigation was handed over to the CBI on May 31.
