Aarushi's murder: Father arrested, mystery lingers
Although the police has arrested Dr Rajesh Talwar in connection with the double murder case, there are many loopholes in this case. The police still has not been able to collect any concrete evidences against Dr Talwar that can prove him guilty.

THOUGH THE Noida double murder case was taken to a new direction on May 23 – apparently, Aarushi Talwar’s father, Dr Rajesh Talwar, was arrested for murdering his domestic help, Hemraj, and his daughter, in that order – the whole truth has still not been ascertained. Many loopholes that signal towards ’something more’ to be found out still linger. Only when these gaps are filled will the entire mystery of the case be understood.

The surface story
Night of May 15: Dr Rajesh Talwar goes out at 9.30pm only to return after two hours, ie 11.30pm. He comes back, surfs the internet for sometime, and heads for a lookout for his manservant, Hemraj, in the house. Unable to locate him in his room, Dr Talwar enters his daughter Aarushi’s room and, much to his surprise, finds her in an “objectionable but not compromising position” with Hemraj. He, then, asks the servant to meet him on the terrace. And that’s where Hemraj loses his life – Dr Talwar hits him on his head with a hammer, which is followed by slitting his throat with a surgical knife (read scalpel). He covers the dead body with a cooler cover.

Dr Talwar, then, clambers down the stairs, fixes himself a whiskey and gulps it down. And enters Aarushi’s room only to kill her the same way as Hemraj – hits her head with a hammer and slits her throat.

All this while, Dr Talwar’s wife, Dr Nupur Talwar, is in her bedroom.

Aarushi’s murder is discovered only the next morning at six when the housemaid arrives. Dr Rajesh calls up his relatives before reporting it to the police; by the time the police appears at the scene, the house is packed with scores of kiths and kins to sympathise with the parents.

Loopholes in the surface story
If a father witnesses his daughter in an “objectionable position” with someone, his very immediate action would be reflected there and then. On the contrary, in this case, the father shows no sign of on-the-spot rage. Instead, he calls the servant upstairs and kills him there. One thing that should not go overlooked here is the easily handy hammer and the scalpel, which, somehow, vanish somewhere after the murders. Also, Dr Rajesh’s clothes that he was wearing at the time of killing were unrecoverable later!

Moreover, if Dr Talwar killed the servant on the terrace, where did the bloodstains on the steps of the stairs come from? Why, after ’discovering’ their daughter’s murder, did the Talwars ask their servant to put the blood-strained mattress on their neighbour’s terrace?

Another remarkably surprising thing is that if Dr Rajesh was already aware of his daughter’s illicit relationship with Hemraj – as is told to the police – what on earth did hold the father from sacking the servant at the very first instance?

Also, the cops tell that Hemraj’s friends have revealed that Hemraj had feared for his life. Why, in that case, did he continue his services at the Talwars’ house?

And most importantly, what is Aarushi’s mother, Dr Nupur Talwar, doing when Dr Rajesh is at these horrendous acts? Although it is night-time when the environs are so quiet, how can Nupur Talwar not happen to hear anything? According to Gurdarshan Singh, inspector general (IG), Meerut, “The doors of the two rooms are hardly four feet apart and the beds hardly six feet apart. It sounds unconvincing that the mother, who is at such a less distance, cannot hear anything transpiring in the other room!”

When on the morning of May 16, Hemraj did not appear to get milk, the milkman gave him a call to ask the reason for not coming, which was received by someone. Though Hemraj was dead by then, who answered this call?

Crime of passion or honour killing?
Dr Rajesh Talwar was indulged into adultery with his colleague, Dr Anita Durani. Supposedly, his domestic help, Hemraj, and his daughter, Aarushi, knew about his illicit relationship. Aarushi had always opposed to it to death.

Dr Rajesh’s confessional explanation lead the police to jump on to the conclusion that the fact that both Aarushi and Hemraj were aware of the intimate companionship brought them close to each other. It angered the father. Also, Hemraj, after knowing the alleged secret of Dr Rajesh’s life, did not sit lip-locked. Instead, he went about narrating it to the other servants. It made the doctor even more furious.

If going by Dr Rajesh’s explanation, wherein he has mentioned a Dinesh Varma who has framed him into all this, we end up finding ourselves into one more mystery – who is this Dinesh Varma? Though Dr Rajesh’s brother’s name is also Dinesh but he is a Talwar and the person in question here is a Varma.

One of the recent developments that the police could arrive at is an alleged taped-conversation between Dr Rajesh and his lawyer, in which the doctor is asking the lawyer to get him an anticipatory bail. This forced the police to put Dr Rajesh under judicial custody for the murders, though he still has not confessed to the charges against him in front of the media.

Last but, of course, not the least, Aarushi’s mother, who has been maintaining silence since the outburst of the incident, finally broke the ice on May 24. She opposed to the charges against her husband, and asked the junta to pray for the peace of her daughter’s soul.

All these particulars lead towards even more mysteriously layered truth. Let’s wait for the ’real’ truth to come forward...

Lots of stories and theories...The media and the Police personnel should stop malign Aarushi. The case should be treated with utmost dignity .It is not right to criticise the person who is not with us and who is brutaly murdered.I guess both the father and Police personnel are misleading... the killer should be punished without mercy.

it looks father is the murder. he is always trying to mislead by his acts , by placing the mattress on terrace by locking the door and finally telling it is dinesh who has framed..the main character we see here is a misleader. it cud only be Dr .Rajesh . Only someone who is with little brains can do these types of misleading acts. not a servant's kind of logic. putting a cooler lid on servant etc...
