AASU is raising protest against Land Swap Deal signed with Bangladesh
All Assam Students Union (AASU) is protesting against the deal of land exchange of Indian government with Bangladesh. Various programmes to protest against the deal have been taking by AASU asking the government to withdraw the deal.

ALL ASSAM Students Union (AASU) is raising strong protest against the Land Swap Deal signed on 6th September, 2011, with Bangladeshby the Indian government. This deal was signed between Indian prime minister, Dr Manmohan Singh and Bangladesh Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina for 665 acres of landof Assam, India, to Bangladesh. AASU has declared its unhappiness through a series of programmes from 9th September, 2011 - asking the government to withdraw the deal.


AASU has criticized the prime minister, Dr Manmohan Singh and chief minister of Assam, Shri Tarun Gogoi, for signing such a deal without taking consent of people of Assam. They exclaimed that government should discuss the matter beforehand with the public and in the parliament and so the government is working against the people of this land, because the government has no time even to show sympathy and visit the flood affected people of Dhemaji district of Assam, no single step for long pending matter of fencing the boundaries, but they are working for foreigners.

AASU is starting various protest programmes from 9th September, today, by taking fire torches at every district headquarters, and on 10th September they have a programme to block the national highway for an hour at every district level on 11th and 12th September protest through bicycle rally in the entire state of Assam and on 15th September a mass protest rally is organizing by AASU in Guwahati. Not only AASU, some other political and non political organizations such as Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), Akhil Gogoi led Krishok Mukti Sangram Samiti, etc., are also raising protest against the deal of Indian government with Bangladesh. AASU further stated that the future programme will be decided after discussion with 26 different organizations of Assam.
