Abhishek Bachchan turns 37 today

It is a festive mood at Bachchan household in Mumbai as Abhishek Bachchan is turning 37 today. Abhishek is nick named 'Junior B or A B baby'. He was born on 5 February 1976 to Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan.

He is also the grandson of eminent Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and this was the reason behind his interest to pursue a career in arts. Only because of this, he dropped his studies in Business management from Boston University.

Following his parents’ footprints, Abhishek began his career with JP Datta's 'Refugee' in which he was cast opposite Karina Kapoor in 2000. The movie performed moderately well on the box office. The actor was not successful in the initial years of his career, but this did not let him go down and he continued his struggle.

In 2004, Junior B won filmfare award for his film Yuva in which he was featured as Lallan Singh. Later he also got filmfare for Sarkar and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. Bachchan has also been awarded for his role in 'Paa'. He was one of the highest paid actors in 2010. Some of his blockbusters are Guru, Bluffmaster, Bunty Aur Babli, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Dhoom.

Abhishek is often compared with his father Amitabh Bachchan for his acting skills and box-office hits. However, all of us know that senior Bachchan is an awesome actor, who gained popularity in Hindi film industry in early 1970s' as an 'angry young man' and since then he has acted in 180 Indian films. He has received some of the major awards in his career. While the actor has advocated his son in many movies but Abhishek still has to learn a lot from his father to even come close to his achievements.

In October 2002, on his father's 60th Birthday celebration, Abhishek and actress Karishma Kapoor announced their engagement, but the engagement was called off. Later, Bachchan fell in love with Aishwarya Rai while they were filming for Dhoom 2 and announced their engagement on 14 January 2007 and exchanged wedding woes on 20 April 2007. They were blessed with a baby girl on 16 November 2011.
