Absenteeism mars MCG

One of the Gurgaon's newspapers recently reported that workers of Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) remain absent even months at a stretch without any approval/ notice. Even some of the officers of the corporation are not far behind them.

THE OFFICERS take leave on their own without bothering to wait for approval from the authorities. MCG claims better performance while on the other hand their workers/ officials without the knowledge of the seniors are missing from their place of work. How can you go for a good planning when there is such amount of absenteeism in the department.

Leaving their desks after signing the attendance registers is not limited to workers only but officers, though at the lowest level also do the same. It has been reported that a list of such workers/ officers has been handed over to the commissioner.

Let us see what stern action the commissioner takes now. Even if he tries to take a serious action, the workers unions or the political pressures will hinder him from taking any strict action. The system will return to the previous stage.

Nothing positive can happen unless the staff and officers are imparted training on personal management, self-discipline and sincerity.
