According to CISF, 91% pickpockets caught on Delhi Metro are women
According to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), 91 per cent of pickpockets who have been caught on the Delhi Metro are women. In 2016 alone, out of the 479 pickpockets caught, 438 of them were women.

The percentage dropped marginally from 93 to 91 per cent this year, but things have still not become easy for CISF, an agency that is in-charge of the security operations of Delhi Metro.

The CISF has undertaken 100 operations to bring the situation under control that has seen a massive rise over the years. All apprehended women pickpockets were handed over to the Delhi Police for legal prosecution.

A senior official says, "It has been found that the modus operandi of these women is to either carry a child or travel in a group to con and pick a purse or either valuables of a traveller, be it a man or a woman."

This year alone, the CISF rescued 106 missing children and reunited them with their parents or handed them over to the station controlling authorities. The CISF deploys personnel in plain clothes at various stations to nab pickpockets. Recently, a group of women was detained by force as it robbed a US-based women of her valuables on the Delhi Metro.
