HE IS short in height but it is no wonder that his films and acting can change ones mood. He has a great sense of humor; he can make you laugh for hours and hours. Yes, we are talking about actor Rajpal Yadav, who was in the city to participate in a religious discourse. In a candid chat with us, he tell us about his upcoming films and more...
Quiz Rajpal about his upcoming movies and he immediately replies, "Right now I am working on five movies Kushti, Benny aur Babloo, Chai Garam, Banda Yeh Bindass Hai and Ata Pata Lapata. All the movies are on different story lines and concepts."
Rajpal might be one of the best comedians in the industry but recently he added one more feather to his hat by starting his own production house. Ask him what is more difficult acting or production and he says, "Definitely production for me because I am an actor and acting is something which is in my blood now. But as far as production is concerned, I am still learning it. As an actor you have to deliver what your director wants. But a producer must keep track of all the things which makes production all the more difficult," he avers.
Presently Rajpal is producing Ata Pata Lapata, which is a comedy flick. Informing about this films he says, "Like my acting I am sure audiences would also like my movie as it would be a pure masala comedy flick which will be totally different from regular comedy films."
In an interview, he said that he will stick to comedy films. Is he afraid of serious roles? "It is nothing like that, being an actor I am open to all sorts of roles, but yes, most of the times I am offered comedy roles. Recently in Rann I did a serious role, which was appreciated by the audiences," says the actor.
Rajpal who has also gathered a lot of appreciation on small screen with his character of Naurangilal is still keen to work on small screen even today. "I feel that there is no difference left between celluloid and the small screen. Be it SRK, Amitji, Salman or Shilpa, they all are doing small screen projects then why not me? In my initial acting career I started small screen so even today I don't have any qualms working for it. After all it provides with great penetration amongst masses,” informs the talented actor.
Rajpal has also been associated with theater. Is he still active on the stage? "Yes, theater is my life. I don't want to forget the platform, which the stage gave me. I started my career and I will continue doing theater. Though I am busy with Bollywood projects but this dose not mean that I am away from theater. I keep on attending workshops and plays also, shortly people would see me on stage once again."
Last but not the least, in Hollywood we see many lead comedians like Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz . Why Bollywood doesn't have lead women comedian. "I don't know why. I think acting is an art. I am not a standup comedian who just speaks in front of audiences. Actors go according to the script. Like earlier, Paresh Rawalji always comes in a comedian role, but now he is doing comedy roles because script of the film is saying to do so. Its not in our hands, everything happens according to the script and director," informs Rajpal.
