Action initiated in complaint against ex-Cabinet Secretary

The Appointment Department of the Uttar Pradesh Government has taken cognizance of the complaint presented by RTC activist Dr. Nutan Thakur, regarding service records case of former Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh, and has directed the Civil Aviation Department to take suitable action as regards these various complaints.

IN HER complaint, Dr. Nutan Thakur has requested for an enquiry into the matter related with non-availability of Date of Birth, Educational Qualification, Technical qualifications, Date of appointment, etc., of Singh in the official records.

RTI activist Devendra Kumar Dixit from Lucknow had earlier asked for such service records of Singh such as Date of Birth, Educational Qualification, Technical qualifications, Date of appointment, etc. The Civil Aviation Department told Dixit through its letter on 17 May 2012 that none of Shashank Shekhar’s service records are available.

Personnel Department also could not provide any record. Similarly, a Government Note dated 19 April 1990 said- “Captain Shashank Shekhar Singh has not provided his Bio-data and Character Roll so far. The Secretary may remind him” to which Neera Yadav, then Personnel Secretary wrote on 20 April- “I have personally requested Sri Singh again,” reported The India Post.

With no government records about Singh’s Basic data, Dr Nutan Thakur had written to the Chief Minister, UP and Chief Secretary asking the matter to be enquired. She had also filed a Writ Petition in the High Court about this matter.
