Adani, Ambani had prior info on demonetisation: BJP MLA
Bhawani Singh Rajawat, a BJP MLA has said that industrialists like Adanis and Ambanis had prior information about government's demonetisation decision.

Rajawat was speaking to journalists about demonetisation at his home in Kota in Rajasthan.

"It could have been a step by step move. The government could have given people some time to get things in order. Ambani and Adani were given hints of demonetisation after which they converted their money," Rajawat said in a video.

A video of the MLA making this disclosure was recorded but he denied making any such statement when the video was telecast on a news channel.

As per reports, Rajawat claimed to not have said any of the things that are shown in the video. Indian Express quoted him saying that what he said was "off-the-record" and that his comments had been "distorted".

Criticising the government's demonetisation decision, Rajawat said, "First you should have printed the new currency as per requirement. But like announcements of changes in petrol prices, you announced that Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 are invalid from midnight."

This is not the first time that Rajawat has created controversies. Earlier, he had demanded that a criminal background check for Bihari students coming to Kota should be conducted.

He is the same minister who had advised bikers not to wear a helmet, arguing that it was uncomfortable and could cause baldness.
