Add few years to your life with red wine
Although a number of studies had established the benefits of red wine to your heart, but a new study by scientists from Arizona University has actually given you another reason to gulp down some pegs of red wine along with dinner. Red wine, it has concluded, may help you live longer.

MOST INDIANS hardly had any taste for superior quality wine, especially due to their high costs. But the trend is witnessing a change as more and more chefs are using wine for cooking, given their health values. According to recent study, red wine is good for health and increases longevity.

As reported by firstpost.com, studies have shown that red wine contains a compound called the resveratrol that enhances longevity. As a part of the research, the same compound was given to bees and the result showed bees took in less food, but had a tendency to live longer. A number of experiments were conducted by a team of scientists from Arizona State University, the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, and Harvard Medical School. They tested the effects of resveratrol on the lifespan, learning ability, and food perception in honey bees.

With 33 to 38 percent of increase in lifespan, the bees also showed an increased inclination towards judicious decisions as to what food they are having. The compound, resveratrol, in itself is quite miraculous as it has anti aging properties. It also fights the effects of the 'free radicals' but the same compound is not known to increase longevity of bees living under stressful conditions. This might be because bees love sweets that in return causes detrimental effects. However, after being administered with the compound, it was noticed that the bees were not interested in sweets unless the sugar was concentrated.

Thus the bees showed that after being administered with the compound the bees were less inclined to eat than bees who were not given the compound. Scientists say it is possible that resveratrol may be working by some mechanism that is related to caloric restriction which is a dietary regimen long known to extend lifespan in diverse organisms. Since red wine has the compound it means longer life for humans. After this people in India will not run away from the idea of having a glass of red wine with their dinner.
