Address issues related to migrants as a part of Sustainable Development Goals: UN
International Migrants Day is going to be observed on December 18 to elicit human-rights based responses guided by international law and standards as well to integrate the issue into the UN's post-2015 development agenda.

United Nations (UN) has stressed the need for addressing issues related to migrants as a part of our future sustainable development goals.

According to the UN, the new era has created challenges and opportunities for societies throughout the world 'to underscore the clear linkage between migration and development, as well as the opportunities it provides for co-development, that is, the concerted improvement of economic and social conditions at both origin and destination'.

The UN had been 'actively playing a catalyst role in this area, with the aim of creating more dialogues and interactions within countries and regions, as well as propelling experience exchange and collaboration opportunities'.

The UN has urged the world community 'to translate our shared vision into action' and 'deliver on our promise and make a difference in the lives of millions of migrants across this planet'.
