Adhikar rally kills two birds with one stone
Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar is presently fighting a war on two fronts. He has to outsmart Narendrabhai Modi to become the NDA nominee for the prime minister's post after the 2014 elections, and also extract a lot of money from the Congress-led government at the centre to re-shape the economy of Bihar. That will be an additional feather in his cap. Narendrabhai Modi is canvassing hard with the new generation and projecting himself as the Vikas Purush. Let us see who wins more laurels.

Nitish Kumar says that he is not in the run for the post of the Prime Minister after the 2014 election to the Lok Sabha. I was inclined to take his word for it and relax. Soon thereafter came the announcement about holding the Adhikar rally in the Ramlila Maidan, New Delhi. Ostensibly, it is to put pressure on the Congress-led government to grant special status to the state of Bihar so that the central government allocates more funds for the development of this backward state.

The hidden agenda should not be missed at this point of time. The NDA may win a large number of seats in the Lok Sabha in the 2014 elections and its leader will be the Prime Minister of India. The Bhartiya Janata Party and its followers who advocate the Hindutva agenda now strongly back Narendrabhai Modi for the top coveted post.

Those constituents who support a secular agenda, read carry Muslims, are supporting Nitish Kumar who has been running the administration of Bihar as Chief Minister, extremely well. To boost their image more, they wish to launch economic reform programmes for betterment of life-style of backward classes, minorities and the scheduled tribes that were uncared for so far.

The remodelling of the economic schemes needs a huge amount of money. Bihar is somehow managing its economic balance and running the show comfortably but to inject more money in the state economy to reap a better harvest needs investment of a large sum of money. The central government can help. Hence the staging of the Adhikar Rally at the Ramlila Grounds, New Delhi, a central place that is constantly under media focus. The name of the place is associated with Ram and the organizers rest assured that the success of the mission is assured. Indeed the episode of Swami Ramdev was just another story not to be mixed up with the present political chess.

The constituency of Narendrabhai Modi is completely different. It is out and out based on Hindutva but the user name for public identity is called 'vikas that is all-round development'. Indeed the vikas programme is all inclusive and there is no distinction based on caste, creed, region or religion.

It would be appropriate to mention that Modi has also made forays into the citadel of political parties of the north India. Not long ago Modiji was invited by the students of the top echelon college of the Delhi University and they heard him with rapt attention. The student community was swept off its feet by the pragmatic approach of Narendra bhai to solve the present problems.

The India Today Conclave last evening had Narenra Modi as the star speaker and he carried the day. He received applause after applause for the development schemes he successfully implemented in Gujarat and professes to do at the all-India level. The main theme of his 140-minute talk and lively question-answer session was development of the country and employing the woman power and the youth too. Modiji scored an A-plus.

Modi and Nitish will be running neck and neck for the leadership of the combined opposition parties and will give Rahul Gandhi nightmares for the top post of Prime Minister after the 2014 elections to the Lok Sabha.

Big Rally. It is long on attendance BUT SHORT ON GAINS AND RESULTS. Nitishji is a successful CM and has been saying often what he said now. But this time he has hit the target by hinting lollipop of support, if and when is suspense.
