GOOGLE INC. has acquired admob for $750 million, for mobile advertising and is said to be one of the web giant’s largest acquisitions to date. AbMob had recently described that the volume and effectiveness of mobile advertising has been on a high since the last few years with advanced smart phones as it’s easier to deliver more graphical and text advertisements to the customers.
AdMob in a recent report said that the number of ads it serves had increased a whooping 540% from September 2007 to 10.2 billion per month from 1.6 billion. Many believe that with the mobile having a lot many features like search, games and instant messaging, opportunities for a lot many companies like google will grow rapidly.Google said that the number of searches by smart phone users have also increased more because of iPhone users and Android phones. Also many new phones like Verizon’s droid will be released in the coming year.
Google said that the marketer spending on mobile advertisers on mobile advertising is also growing at around 30% annually.About AdMobAdmob was founded in 2006 by Omar Hamoui who was a web entrepreneur who was looking to generate and increase traffic for his mobile based website. A lot many companies like Sequoi Capital, Accel Partners have funded the company. Some of the company’s clients include Ford, Coca Cola, Paramount Pictures to name a few.
