It has two people in relation with no strings attached; no terms and conditions. Here is a true story of a girl (name withheld), who stayed next door, in my home town.

I do not know whether it’s right or wrong to land up in a relation at workplace? I had been working in a B.P.O since two years. I had always heard from people about all such things until one day I realised that I had also been doing ‘the thing’ after few months of my joining. My co-worker use to sit beside my workplace, and these work station were our permanent places so whenever we had a free time we used to chit chatt. He would always tell me about his family and friends and sometimes regarding the clients on the other end of the call. Through his talks it seemed as if he was very much concerned about me. Slowly and gradually I got attracted towards him. Even though knowing the fact he was committed and me too, we still got stuck with an affair. Our shift timings were same and so we always went for the breaks together.
 
Finally we expressed our love for each other one day. I do not know whether it was the need of the hour or our sheer work pressure that made us close. We were in the same department so we easily figured out each others problems and as most of the time we stayed together and our interests were also common.
 
We were now no more friends. We were actually in affair, which was clearly visible to all other co-workers. Since we enjoyed each others company we became emotionally attached and we even starting meeting each other on our leave days and during non-working hours.
 
“He was soon about to get engaged with his girlfriend. So finally it was the time to depart from each other. He was very practical and I was emotional. He hardly felt sad for me but for me it was a bit disheartening. Once he resigned he got placed at a better position. I had to face the rumors and gossips and even lost my lover, as I went mad in my affair! After a few days everything was well (or so it seemed).
 
What I think is that people land up in affairs at work places as they remain with each other for a long time. Once people become familiar with each other their closeness increases and affair sets in. May be people in relation enjoy this but it is a major concern for employers, as according to them it affects their work output or may be sometimes employees can land up doing wrong things!
 
I left that BPO now. But, in my new company I remain reserved and professional. I would certainly suggest to one and all – more because of personal experience – that these affairs are short termed. Most probably these should be avoided. If then too these happen, the best way is to stay away from people who love gossiping, is to remain committed towards your work and do not let other thoughts occupy your mind.
 
Love is thousand times better than affairs. Avoid affairs as these scar you, often for a lifetime!
