After Soccer, Afghanistan will join the league of top international cricket playing nations and the war-ravaged country is set to play their first match against Pakistan in Sharjah next year. The country infamous for killings, illiteracy and poverty is finally taking on the game of cricket.

Indeed it’s very good news for cricket lovers. People here are expressing their best wishes for the country. Though nobody expects that they can beat Pakistan cricket team but atleast one believes that it will create an interest among the younger generation in the country to take to the famous game.

Afghanistan has earlier played against associate teams like Canada and Ireland but this will be their first against a top international team. Refugees from Afghanistan who have been living in Pakistan for decades are believed to be the main reason for the popularity of the game.
